How we sort every load — donate first, recycle second, landfill last.
Martinsburg Junk Removal is committed to keeping as much out of the Berkeley County landfill as possible. Every load we haul is sorted before disposal. Here is exactly what happens to your items after we pick them up.
Usable items are our first priority. Furniture in good condition, working appliances, clothing, household goods, books, and children's items are offered to local charities and donation centers in Berkeley County and the surrounding area before anything goes to disposal. If an item has life left in it, we try to find it a new home.
Items that cannot be donated but contain recyclable materials are separated and taken to certified recycling facilities. This includes metals, electronics, cardboard, and appliance components. West Virginia has specific CED (Covered Electronic Device) recycling requirements, and we follow all applicable state guidelines.
Only what cannot be donated or recycled goes to licensed solid waste disposal facilities. We use facilities that comply with all WV DEP and EPA regulations. Appliances containing refrigerant are handled at EPA-compliant refrigerant recovery facilities.
Items in severely damaged, contaminated, or hazardous condition cannot be donated or recycled and go directly to licensed disposal. This includes items with significant mold, pest damage, or exposure to hazardous substances.
